My name is Roger Douchand, author of the new book titled "Do You Know Your God?" and my storied life begins with the heartfelt prayer of a woman who longed for a child she could not bear. Nevertheless, by faith she prayed for a son she could dedicate to God, and He heard her prayer—my life is the proof of His answer. Yet I resisted my calling, running from the destiny God laid out for me. Wondering why I was bound to a path I did not choose for myself? Still, He never let me go. Through my grief, disappointments, rebellion, and ungratefulness, His Grace was always sufficient. By His love, patience, and great mercy, God revealed His Heart to me until I finally surrendered. Then I discovered that I never had to carry my burdens; He wanted to carry them for me. They were never meant for me to carry in the first place. In fact He carried me too.

IN PSALM 91, MOSES, A MAN FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT, WROTE OF A SHELTER WHERE PEACE REIGNS, AND A FORTRESS OF DIVINE PROTECTION SURROUNDS ALL THAT DWELL THERE. IT IS A STRONGHOLD, A PLACE OF REFUGE IN THE VERY SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY, HIDDEN FROM THE WORLD, WHERE ONLY THOSE SET APART BY FAITH AND HOLINESS FIND PEACE IN GOD'S REST.
PSALMS 91:1-16 (NIV)
WHOEVER DWELLS IN THE SHELTER OF THE MOST HIGH WILL REST IN THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY. I WILL SAY OF THE LORD, "HE IS MY REFUGE AND MY FORTRESS, MY GOD, IN WHOM I TRUST." SURELY HE WILL SAVE YOU FROM THE FOWLER’S SNARE AND FROM THE DEADLY PESTILENCE. HE WILL COVER YOU WITH HIS FEATHERS, AND UNDER HIS WINGS YOU WILL FIND REFUGE; HIS FAITHFULNESS WILL BE YOUR SHIELD AND RAMPART. THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
“For our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:29 NIV
When we accept Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us. But for many, that’s where the journey stops, because they have yet to grasp the reality of the True Power living within them. The Holy Spirit is not just a helper; He is God Himself, the very Fullness and Essence of God! That means the same Power that spoke the universe into existence can reside in you by Faith. But how do you connect with this Power and let it transform your life? Well first, you must believe that He lives within you; just as His Word says. Second, you must place your faith in Him. And third, you must grow in your understanding of God’s good and perfect will for your life. This happens when you feed continually on the Word of God until the Blessed message of Scripture ignites your faith! Only then will you be empowered to stand firmly on His Promises.
But this walk requires Holiness. To live in the Fullness of the Spirit, you must separate yourself from the ways of the world and be Holy. For now you are a vessel of God, and your life must reflect and align with your confession of faith in Him. When this takes place, your awareness of the Holy Spirit's presence grows, and His Power reshapes your existence! You will begin to operate in Faith—no longer driven back and forth by the weakness of human instinct, but grounded in Divine Assurance. Doubt is natural to us, it chains our souls to fear, disappointment, and unbelief. Faith, however, breaks those chains, and it paves the path for us to live in the fullness of God’s constantly abiding Presence. This is how we remain sheltered in God's Shadow in a world filled with evil. And do you know the most wonderful thing? You will have peace even in the darkest hours of life, an incredible Peace that surpasses all understanding.
"Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His Peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7
